Are You Pregnant or Postpartum and Live in the Birmingham Area?
A Message From Dr. Stephanie Perez, PT, DPT, Owner and Founder of Empowered Wellness
- 45% of pregnant women experience pelvic girdle pain. This can cause daily and/or sexual pain.
- Stress urinary incontinence affects 19% to 70% of pregnant women.
- 35% of new moms experience stress urinary incontinence (leaking during coughing, sneezing, lifting, leaping, and so on) during the postpartum period.
- More than half of pregnant women have diastasis recti abdominis. (A diastasis rectus abdominis is a separation of the abdominal muscles from their central tendon that causes low back pain, stress urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse.)
- 20% of first-time mothers suffer significant pelvic floor muscle injuries after a normal pregnancy/delivery.
- 25% of women who have pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain continue to have pain after giving delivery.
Don’t Put It Off Any Longer; Empowered Wellness Is Here to Help.
- Tired of leaking pee (incontinence) when jogging, leaping, or simply going about your daily business?
- Are you concerned about persistent postpartum back, hip, or pelvic pain?
- Feeling self-conscious, frustrated, or dissatisfied after the birth of your child, and convinced you'll never regain control of your body?
- Is sex uncomfortable or inconvenient for you?
- Do you feel like you're falling behind your children and missing out on life?
- Feeling uneasy because you know your core isn't working properly, you have a Diastasis Recti, or you still appear pregnant while not being pregnant?
- Frustrated that other PT approaches haven't worked, or unsure what to try?
- Are you looking for a long-term, natural solution to permanently eliminate these symptoms (without medications or surgery)?
If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, you've come to the correct spot!
- Your doctor recommends that you rest for six weeks before returning to your normal activities. You're still having problems after a few days, weeks, months, or even years.
- You'll rapidly get back in shape if you watch some YouTube workout videos, but those sessions will hurt and cause leaks, leaving you unpleasant and depressed.
- Pain or abdominal separation after childbirth is "natural," and "everyone leaks" or has bladder control issues as they get older.
- Take some pain relievers, and everything will be fine.
- There is just medicine, surgery, or "simply dealing with it."
The Truth Is...
- It makes no difference if you rest. You may have some temporary relief, but when you return to work, you will continue to feel pelvic discomfort, leakage, and other postpartum symptoms (as I'm sure you have!).
- While it is pretty common, enduring persistent pain or pee leaks after pregnancy... or even as you get older... is NOT NORMAL.
- Pain relievers are addictive, dangerous, and can lead to a variety of other health problems.
- Medicine, surgery, and injections are not the only treatment choices. They are the only options your doctor has given you.
If You’re Tired of Having Painful Sex, a Mommy Tummy, or Chronic Low Back Pain, Empowered Wellness Can Help You Get Back to Doing What You Love (Even if It’s Been 20 Years!) Without the Use of Pills, Pads, or Surgery.
You must choose the greatest healthcare provider for your specific needs. If you don’t, you risk having unnecessary surgery, becoming addicted to medicines or painkillers… or surviving the rest of your life with worsening symptoms.
To avoid recurrence, leakage, abdominal separation, pelvic floor dysfunction, and postpartum hip/back/pelvic discomfort must be treated utilizing the “least-invasive,” most natural manner.
A provider who understands how the body works are required for recovery. Pregnancy and postpartum both change our bodies. We must address the neck/back/diaphragm/core/pelvic floor/pelvis, posture, strength, and body use to properly recover. It’s more than just Kegels!
To guarantee a thorough recovery, we must treat more than just the symptoms. You must engage with a specialist who is willing to look into the underlying causes of your symptoms and dysfunction. That is when you will get a PERMANENT solution to your postpartum problems.
We've Developed a Three-Step Procedure at Empowered Wellness to Eliminate Your Postpartum Problems and Ensure You Never Have to Deal With Them Again.
Step 1 - We Want to Hear Your Story.
Our healthcare system irritates me. You wait weeks, if not months, for an appointment to talk with the doctors for 10 minutes before they rush to the next patient, leaving you scratching your head, thinking, “What just happened?”
This is how the majority of physical therapy clinics operate. They are not attentive and move at a rapid pace, and your therapist does not have time to learn about your goals or work with you one-on-one. That is why we work so differently!
That is why we want to hear your story first.
After successfully working with several postpartum women, we recognize that no two persons are alike. Each person has a unique anatomy, history, and pain and symptom patterns.
As a result, as a first step, we will have an open chat and allow you to share your story. That way, we’ll have a better understanding of not only what’s wrong with your health, but also how it’s affecting your life.
Step 2 - Determine Why Your Symptoms Emerged
Many people have a medical term or diagnosis to describe what is wrong with their bodies. Maybe it was prescribed by their doctor, maybe tests confirmed the illness, or maybe you found out about it online.
You may have been diagnosed with Prolapse, Diastasis Recti, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Incontinence, Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Pain, or Hip/Back/Pelvic Pain.
You were probably told that your only options were to relax, take medication, or wait.
These measures may provide temporary relief, but they do not address the underlying cause of the problem.
Each individual’s source of pain or symptoms is distinct. Nobody suffers the same problem as someone else because of the same item.
Our goal at Empowered Wellness is to treat the underlying source of your discomfort so that it not only goes away but stays away!
We understand that you may still be skeptical of Integrative Physical Therapy. As a result of this, we created a low-cost Discovery/Screening Visit.
Our Discovery Visits are intended for people who are skeptical, uncertain or have been disappointed in the past. During the Discovery Visit, you will understand what is wrong and how long it will take to correct it, as well as gain confidence that your condition can be resolved naturally!
Step 3 - Get Rid of the Problem and Keep It From Reappearing
This is when huge changes occur. We provide a personalized plan that allows you to…
…continue a physical activity (even running or jumping!) without fear of continuing pain, stiffness, or bladder control concerns.
…be able to communicate with your children, lift and carry them easily.
…resume intimate connections with your spouse without fear of pain.
…return to your favorite kind of exercise (yoga, running, tennis, etc.).
As your body heals from the Diastasis Recti/Abdominal Separation and regains full core strength, you will regain your power, confidence, and sensuality.
Our ideal clients are motivated individuals who wish to restore their active lifestyles. (Even if they are currently imprisoned!)
Do you like to learn more about our availability and price before making a visit commitment?
You don’t have to give up your hobbies or family life because of problems that can be fixed.
Sincerely,
Dr. Stephanie Perez
